SAN MATEO, Calif. – Senior middle blocker Kennedy Eschenberg collected West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the third week in a row, the league announced on Monday.

Eschenberg continued her defensive dominance in No. 14 BYU’s season sweep of Santa Clara. Entering the week as the WCC leader in blocks per set with an average of 1.48, Eschenberg improved on her season average by recording 1.83 blocks per set (11 total) to help the Cougars outblock the Broncos 17-7 across back-to-back sweeps. Along with being a force defensively, she also contributed a combined 14 kills on an errorless .500 clip in the series sweep.

In the regular-season finale on Wednesday, Eschenberg matched her season high of eight blocks for the fourth time in five matches while adding nine kills in 14 attempts (.643 clip) to help BYU win its sixth WCC title in seven years.

This award marks the sixth weekly honor collected by a BYU player this season. Along with Eschenberg claiming the last three WCC Defensive Player of the Week honors, freshman libero Madi Allen received WCC Defensive Player of the Week on Feb. 1 and Feb. 15 while sophomore setter Whitney Bower won WCC Offensive Player of the Week on March 22.
