Trio Named Academic All-District
GREENWOOD, Ind. - BYU women’s volleyball players Kennedy Eschenberg, Mary Lake and Riley Lyman were named to the 2019 Academic All-District Eight Volleyball Team, selected by CoSIDA.
The three honorees ties for the most in a season in program history; the Cougars also had three in 2018.
Eschenberg, an elementary education major with a 3.82 GPA, is one of the top middle blockers in the nation with 157 kills on a .332 hitting percentage with 107 blocks. The junior was a 2018 AVCA All-America honorable mention and played with the U.S. Collegiate National Team at the World University Games in Italy this past summer.
Lake, a graduate accounting student with a 3.68 GPA, is a two-time All-American and U.S. Senior National Team member who earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting and is pursuing her master’s degree. Lake recently became the program’s all-time leader in career digs and has 321 this season to go with 20 aces.
Lyman, an experience design and management major with a 3.89 GPA, has 84 digs and six kills for the Cougars while contributing to the team’s defensive and passing games.
The Academic All-District Volleyball Team recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To be eligible, student-athletes must be a starter or significant contributor and maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA.
