COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - BYU women's volleyball middle blocker Heather Gneiting will compete at the 2019 FIVB Women’s U20 World Championship in Mexico as a member of the U.S. Women’s Junior National Training Team (WJNTT).

The 12-player team will travel to Léon Guanajuato and Aguascalientes, Mexico, from July 12-21 as one of 16 squads in the event. The U.S. will start in Pool A against Mexico, Italy and Cuba. The top two teams each of the four-team round robin pools will advance to the top eight and remain eligible for the gold medal.

Gneiting, the AVCA National Freshman of the Year and a third-team All-American in her first season for the Cougars last year, is one of three middles on the roster. This is the second international experience for the Pleasant Grove, Utah, native this year after Gneiting also traveling to Japan as a member of the U.S. Collegiate National Team in May.

Team USA opens against Italy on July 12 at 1:30 p.m. ET followed by Mexico on July 13 at 9 p.m. ET. The Americans conclude pool play on July 14 against Cuba at 1:30 p.m. ET.
