Jones-Perry to Play in Pan Am Cup
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Former BYU women's volleyball All-American Roni Jones-Perry has been named to the U.S. Women’s National Team which will represent Team USA at the 11-team Pan American Cup held July 6-14 in Trujillo and Chiclayo, Peru.
Jones-Perry is one of 14 players to compete at the Pan Am Cup for the U.S. Team. The two-time defending champs will start play on July 6 against Colombia at 4 p.m. ET, followed by Trinidad & Tobago on July 7 at 4 p.m. and Mexico on July 8 at 6 p.m. Team USA concludes pool play on July 10 against Puerto Rico at 6 p.m.
The playoffs begin on July 12 with quarterfinal matches having pool cross-over matches between second- and third-place teams. Semifinals are scheduled for July 13 and the tournament concludes on July 14 with the medal-round matches. For the complete schedule, click here.
Jones-Perry recently signed a professional contract with Volley Millenium Brescia in Italy after a stellar career with the Cougars. A two-time All-American, Jones-Perry was a national player of the year finalist for BYU in 2018, leading the team to an NCAA Final Four appearance as one of the program's all-time leaders in career kills, points, attempts and aces.
The West Jordan, Utah, native is the fourth member of last year's BYU team representing the U.S. this summer, joining Heather Gneiting (U.S. Collegiate National Team - Japan & Junior National Training Team), Kennedy Eschenberg (U.S. Collegiate National Team - Italy) and Mary Lake (U.S. Senior National Team - Volleyball Nations League). In addition, Cougar head coach Heather Olmstead served as head coach for the U.S. CNT - Japan squad and former BYU All-American Alexa Gray is competing for the Canadian National Team.
