Eschenberg Named to U.S. World University Games Roster
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - BYU women's volleyball player Kennedy Eschenberg has been named to the U.S. Women’s Collegiate National Team for the World University Games.
A native of Bountiful, Utah, Eschenberg is one of 12 collegiate players who will represent the United States in Napoli, Italy, at the World University Games. The schedule includes preliminary round matches July 4-11, followed by semifinals on July 12 and medal-round matches on July 13.
An upcoming junior when the Cougars' begin their 2019 season this fall, Eschenberg was named an AVCA All-America and All-Region honoree as a middle blocker after helping BYU to a 31-2 record and NCAA Final Four appearance. She was ranked No. 31 in the nation in blocks per set with 1.31, playing in 107 sets with 205 kills, a .345 hitting percentage, and 141 blocks, including 15 solo.
Eschenberg was selected through the U.S. Women’s National Team Open Tryouts held March 1-3 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. All Collegiate National Team programs are considered second tryouts for the U.S. Women’s National Teams under NCAA rules.
