No. 1 BYU hosts 2nd-place San Diego
PROVO, Utah – The top two teams in the WCC will face off when No. 1 BYU women’s volleyball welcomes San Diego on Friday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. at the Smith Fieldhouse.
Last Week
The Cougars (22-0, 12-0 WCC) went on the road last week and defeated Portland and Gonzaga to begin the second half of WCC play. With the wins, BYU maintains its hold on the top spot in the national rankings and WCC standings with six games left to play in the regular season.
San Diego
- BYU plays the Toreros in the only game of the week for the Cougars. San Diego enters the game with a 13-9 record, 10-2 in WCC play.
- On Oct. 5, BYU defeated San Diego, 25-21, 24-26, 25-16, 25-10, at Jenny Craig Pavilion, losing a set to a conference opponent for the only time this season before claiming the final two sets.
- BYU is 9-8 overall in the series with San Diego, including 5-2 at home. The Toreros defeated BYU in the Smith Fieldhouse last year, 3-1. It’s BYU’s only home conference loss in its last 59 home matches.
- San Diego also played at Gonzaga and Portland last week, winning both matches to stay at second in the WCC, two matches behind BYU.
