PROVO, Utah – Junior outside hitter Veronica Jones-Perry led No. 9 BYU women's volleyball past San Francisco in straight sets (25-12, 25-17, 25-12) Thursday night at the Smith Fieldhouse.

"Great team effort tonight," BYU head coach Heather Olmstead said. "Everyone was ready to play and contributed when called upon. We had great energy and stayed focused the entire match."

Jones-Perry fueled the win with 19 kills, four digs and two service aces. McKenna Miller added 12 kills in the win. Lyndie Haddock contributed 31 assists and four digs while Mary Lake had a team-high 17 digs.

Seven Jones-Perry kills helped pace the Cougars (26-2, 15-1 West Coast Conference) to an early 9-2 advantage in the first set. The Dons (3-26, 0-16 WCC) fired back with a 5-0 run to shorten BYU’s lead to 14-8. However, it didn’t prove to be enough as the Cougars responded with a 4-0 rally to increase the lead to double-digits at 19-9. A kill by Lacy Haddock and an attack error by the Dons secured the set for BYU, 25-12.

A pair of Miller kills and a Jones-Perry ace pushed BYU on a 5-0 run to take an early 9-4 advantage in the second set. Back-to-back kills from Jones-Perry propelled the Cougars to a 17-12 lead. The two teams traded blows until another two Jones-Perry kills finished the set, 25-17.

Four Jones-Perry kills and a service ace by Danelle Stetler fueled an early 8-0 run in the third set to put BYU up 9-1. Back-to-back kills by Stetler and Kennedy Redding pushed the Cougars to a 21-7 advantage. Two kills from Lacy Haddock, a kill from Stetler and a service error by the Dons gave BYU the third set 25-12.

The Cougars return to the Smith Fieldhouse on Saturday, Nov. 18, to face Santa Clara at 1 p.m. MDT. There is free admission to the public. The match will be streamed live on TheW.tv.
