SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Junior outside hitter Veronica Jones-Perry has been named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Jones-Perry’s career week pushed BYU women’s volleyball to a pair of road wins at Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount last week to stay in sole possession of first place in conference play.

In a sweep of the Waves, she led all players in the match with 12 kills. She also added nine digs for a near double-double.

After falling down two sets to none to the Lions, Jones-Perry’s play was instrumental in leading her team to a five-set come-from-behind victory. She collected a career-high 34 kills while hitting at a .441 clip. The 34 kills set a new BYU rally-scoring era record for kills in a match (previous high of 32 achieved twice –  last in 2009). The 34 kills are the second-most kills scored in an NCAA match so far this season. Additionally, Jones-Perry collected a team-high three service aces while adding six digs and four blocks for an all-around effort.

For the week, she averaged 6.44 points per set, 5.75 kills per set and 1.88 digs per set – crushing her already league-leading 5.26 points and 4.59 kills per set averages heading into last week’s competition.

This is Jones-Perry’s third WCC Player of the Week award of the season and fourth for the Cougars as a team this year.
