No. 14 Cougars to face three in-state foes
PROVO, Utah – No. 14 BYU women’s volleyball faces three in-state foes this week, including No. 16 Utah, Weber State and Utah Valley.
No. 16 Utah
- BYU competes against the Utes Thursday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. MDT at the Huntsman Center in the Deseret First Duel.
- This will be the 100th meeting all-time between the two schools with the Cougars holding a 69-30 advantage in the series.
- Utah won the last matchup in five sets in Provo a year ago.
- The Utes are 8-1 on the season with their only loss coming to Kentucky.
Weber State
- BYU will then return to the Smith Fieldhouse to face the Wildcats Friday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. MDT.
- This is the first meeting since 2011 between the two schools, and the Cougars are a perfect 60-0 all-time against Weber State.
- The Wildcats are off to a rough start in 2017, beginning the season with a 1-8 record with their only win coming in five sets against Northeastern.
Utah Valley
- BYU will end the week facing the Wolverines in the UCCU Crosstown Clash Saturday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m. MDT at the Lockhart Arena.
- The Cougars have also never lost to Utah Valley in 14 attempts.
- BYU beat the Wolverines in three sets in the season opener last year.
- Utah Valley is 5-7 so far this season, falling in all three matches played last week.
Thursday’s match against Utah will be televised live on the Pac-12 Network and broadcast live on BYU Radio. Friday’s match at home against Weber State will be televised live nationally on BYUtv.
