Women's volleyball begins spring practice and competition

PROVO, Utah – BYU women’s volleyball began spring practice this week, preparing for several offseason matches in March and April.

Spring play will launch at the Smith Fieldhouse with a match against cross-county foe Utah Valley on March 16 beginning at 1:30 p.m. MST. The Cougars last played the Wolverines in Provo during the 2016 season, picking up a sweep in the home opener.

BYU will stay at home for another match the following week on March 25 at 12:30 p.m. MST against the University of Utah. The Utes beat the Cougars in the 2016 matchup in five sets. 

BYU will then travel up the road to the University of Utah on April 1 to take part in an all-day spring tournament. The Cougars will follow up that invitational with another one at Utah Valley on April 8.

In 2016, the Cougars finished with a 29-4 overall record, finishing first place in the West Coast Conference for a third-consecutive year and advanced to the regional semifinals of the NCAA tournament for a fifth-straight season.
