Cougars ranked No. 13 in preseason poll
PROVO, Utah – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) ranked BYU women’s volleyball No. 13 in the nation in the preseason coaches’ poll, released Wednesday.
BYU finished the 2015 season ranked No. 11 after reaching the regional semifinals of the NCAA tournament for a fourth-consecutive season. The Cougars finished with a 28-4 overall record as well as a second-straight West Coast Conference title after going 16-2 in league play.
With 806 points, BYU is one of two WCC teams in the preseason top 25. Loyola Marymount is ranked No. 21 while San Diego received votes in the poll, sitting just outside the top-25 with 113 points.
Additionally, 2016 Cougar opponent Ohio State is ranked at No. 15 while Missouri is receiving votes with 97 points.
The defending national champion Nebraska was named No. 1 heading into the season, followed by Texas at No. 2 and Minnesota at No. 3.
