Olmstead helps U.S. Women's National Team earn bronze

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic – BYU women’s volleyball head coach Heather Olmstead helped the U.S. Women’s National Team earn bronze as an assistant coach at the 2016 Pan American Cup with its win over Cuba Sunday.

This marks the seventh-straight year that the U.S. has medaled at the Pan Am Cup.

Team USA finished play in Pool B with a perfect 5-0 record, including sweeps against Peru, Trinidad & Tobago, Costa Rica and Argentina and a five-set come-from-behind thriller against Cuba.

The U.S. received a bye through the quarterfinals of the medal rounds before falling to Puerto Rico 3-1 (25-20, 21-25, 25-17, 25-20) in the semis. Team USA then beat Cuba in four sets (20-25, 25-9, 25-15, 25-9) to clinch the bronze medal.
