Gray drafted fifth; to play internationally for Kixx
ANAHEIM, Calif. — Former BYU women's volleyball outside hitter Alexa Gray has been selected fifth in the KOVO Korean Volleyball draft and will play with GS Caltex Seoul Kixx.
Following an intensive try-out session from April 27-29, Gray was one of just six players drafted into the league out of 24 participants. She will play with Kixx from August 2016 to March 2017, with a contract renewal possible for an additional season.
The team is based in Seoul, South Korea, and plays in the V-League. The club was founded in 1970 and has won the regular season two times (most recently in 2013-14) as well as the KOVO Cup twice (most recently in 2012).
Gray played with the Cougars from 2012-15. Last season, she was named an AVCA First Team All-American and the WCC Player of the Year for a second-consecutive year. Gray ended her BYU career on several rally-scoring era records lists: No. 1 in total kills (1,848), No. 1 in kills per set (4.03), No. 1 in attempts (4,473) and No. 2 in sets played (459).
