Two Cougars receive All-America accolades

PROVO, Utah – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has named Alexa Gray and Amy Boswell Division I All-Americans, the association announced Wednesday.

Gray, a senior outside hitter from Calgary, Alberta, was named First-Team All-America. She contributed 5.24 kills per set, second most in the nation, along with 2.44 digs per set. Gray was named the 2015 West Coast Conference Player of the Year in addition to being named to the All-WCC First Team and All-Pacific South Region First Team earlier this year. She was previously named a Second-Team All-American as a junior, a Third-Team All-American as a sophomore and received All-American Honorable Mention accolades as a freshman.

Boswell, a native of Aloha, Oregon. was named Third-Team All-America as a junior. The middle blocker led the WCC in blocks per set (1.41) while maintaining the highest hitting percentage in the league with a .365 clip. Boswell was named the 2015 WCC Defensive Player of the Year and was added to the All-WCC team as well as the All-Pacific South Region First Team. She was previously named an Honorable Mention All-American as a sophomore.

Gray and Boswell are the only players from the WCC to make either the first, second or third team. Gray is the only player in BYU history to be a three-time AVCA All-American.
