PROVO, Utah – Three BYU women’s volleyball players were named to the Academic All-West Coast Conference teams, the league announced Wednesday, for maintaining academic excellence while being significant contributors to their team.

Junior middle blockers Amy Boswell and Whitney Young Howard received first-team honors for the Cougars.

Boswell, who is first on the team and conference in blocks, averages 1.40 per set. She additionally carries a .378 hitting percentage to lead the WCC. Boswell made the team with a 3.90 GPA in her nursing major. She also earned Academic All-District 8 honors earlier this year.

Howard, a middle blocker for BYU, is second on the team and fourth in the conference in blocks - averaging 1.24 per set while keeping a 3.69 GPA in athletic training.

Additionally, Ciara Parker was named Academic All-WCC Honorable Mention.

Parker became BYU's all-time dig leader earlier this year and now has 1,775 in her Cougar career. She averages 4.03 per set - good for fourth in the WCC.

This is Boswell's second-straight Academic All-WCC First Team honor. Howard was named last year to the honorable mention list while Parker was previously named to the first team as a sophomore.
