PROVO, Utah – Senior outside hitter Alexa Gray was selected as the West Coast Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday, for the third-straight week.

Gray set another new career-high in kills as she helped No. 11 BYU women’s volleyball (25-3, 15-2 WCC) to a pair of wins over then-second place Santa Clara and San Francisco, as well as at least a share of the West Coast Conference title.

Against the Broncos, Gray collected 31 kills on a .464 clip to go along with nine digs for a near double-double. Then, against the Dons, Gray put down 19 kills while adding nine digs for another near double-double in just three sets.

The 31 kills against Santa Clara were the third-most collected by any Cougar in the rally-scoring era, and she put up the high number in just four sets. Additionally, against the Broncos, Gray became the rally-scoring era kill leader at BYU – surpassing Nina Puikkonen for first place with her 1,758 total.

On the week, Gray averaged 7.36 points, 7.14 kills and 2.57 digs per set on a .424 clip – more points and kills, and with a higher hitting percentage, than last week’s spectacular outing.

This is Gray’s fourth weekly honor of the year and sixth of her career. This is the first time in the award’s history that the same player has received the honors for three-consecutive weeks.
