Boswell takes Elite 89 award for academic achievements

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Sophomore middle blocker Amy Boswell was honored with the Elite 89 award for women's volleyball, the NCAA announced Wednesday.

The award goes to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 89 championships. It recognizes the true essence of a student-athlete who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in academic and athletics standing and be an active member of his or her designated squad at the championship site.

Boswell has maintained a 3.92 GPA in her nursing major. She has been a major factor on the court as well. Boswell is currently second in the nation in blocks per set with 1.67 and has the highest hitting percentage on the team, hitting at a .344 clip.
