Three recruits added to 2014 women's volleyball roster
PROVO, Utah – BYU women’s volleyball head coach Shawn Olmstead announced the team will welcome three additional freshmen to the 2014 roster.
Jaiden Achermann, Aspen Potter and Alohi Robins-Hardy will join Danelle Parady and Malery Wahlin as the five additions to this year’s squad.
"We are excited about the addition of Jaiden, Aspen and Alohi," Olmstead said. "All three kids bring some experience and enthusiasm for the game. We've enjoyed our interaction with them throughout the entire recruiting process."
Achermann—a 5-foot-9 Eagle Mountain, Utah, high school senior—will play at the libero/defensive specialist position.
“Jaiden will add tremendously to our serve-receive ability as she has a great eye for the ball and next play,” Olmstead said.
Potter, a 6-foot-2 middle blocker, will join the Cougars from Yorba Linda, Calif.
“Aspen has great vision and feel at the net blocking,” Olmstead said.
Robins-Hardy, a setter/outside hitter from Honolulu, Hawai’i, will join BYU on both the women’s volleyball and basketball teams.
“Alohi has great leadership abilities both on and off the court that translate well in her game,” Olmstead said.
The freshmen join a team that went 24-7 overall, including a second-consecutive trip to the regional semifinals of the NCAA tournament. The team lost three seniors in 2013, including one starter, but returns All-American Jennifer Hamson for her final season of eligibility.
