BYU swim and dive ready for Rebels
PROVO, Utah – The BYU swim and dive teams are back in action this weekend as the men and women head down to Las Vegas to take on UNLV in a dual meet Saturday.
“We have a great and healthy rivalry with UNLV and both meets will be close,” BYU swim coach John Brooks said. “UNLV is very well coached and I have the upmost respect for Coach Reitz.”
Hayden Palmer and Jake Taylor will look to build on first place finishes a month ago at the Intermountain Shootout in Grand Junction, Colorado. For the dive team, Kevin Dreesen finished third in the 3-meter and true freshman Nathan Gonzales won the 1-meter in the first event of his career.
The women are looking to bounce back after falling to No. 21 UCLA and UC Santa Barbara on Oct. 25 in California. Vanessa Moffatt, Ciera Marsh Keller and Haley Bertoldo were bright spots for the Cougars and will be key in helping the women beat UNLV.
Last season the Rebels came to Provo and split with the Cougars. The women beat UNLV 160-140 while the men fell 198-102. UNLV lost a double dual-meet to Utah and Arizona on Nov. 1 to open their season. The Rebels host Denver the afternoon before taking on BYU.
The meet begins at 1 p.m. MST and live stats can be found here and there will also be a live video stream. For results following the meet you can visit the men's and women's schedule pages.
