Road trip begins for Cougars at Oregon State on Monday

PROVO, Utah — The BYU women's soccer team travels to Oregon as they take on Oregon State on Monday, September 11, at 8 p.m. MDT.

BYU Storylines

The Cougars (0-3-3) are coming off a 1-1 tie with Deseret First Duel opponent, No. 21 University of Utah. The Utes found the back of the net first in the 31st minute to take a lead going into halftime. In the 57th minute senior forward Nadia Gomes ended BYU's scoring drought. Gomes hustled to get her first goal of the season as she stole the ball from Utah's goalkeeper and scored on an open net. In an evenly matched game, the Utes outshot the Cougars 16 to 14. Senior goalkeeper Hannah Clark recorded a season high eight saves, including one in the final seconds of regular time to send the game into overtime.

Oregon State Storylines

The Beavers are 3-1-2 in the 2017 season after beating Portland State 1-0 in overtime this weekend. Oregon State scored in the 94th minute when Shea O'Connor finished a crossed ball. 

Four different Beavers have scored a goal this season, tallying only one more goal than BYU. The defense has only allowed three goals this season, two of which came in their loss to No. 19 Kansas. Oregon State was picked to finish 12th in the Pac-12 preseason poll.
