Owens wins WCC Player of the Month
PROVO, Utah - Senior goalkeeper Erica Owens was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Month for October. Owens had been named the Player of the Week for Oct. 21.
Owens was in goal for all seven games BYU played and recorded five shutouts in the month. She only allowed three goals in October for a .43 goals against average. Owens made 24 saves and had a save percentage of .889. The Cougars went 6-1 in the month of October beating two ranked teams, No. 20 Baylor and No. 6 Portland, on the road.
Owens is a fifth-year senior from Salt Lake City and will wrap up the regular season this week with games against Pacific and Saint Mary's. Owens will be honored as part of Senior Day before Saturday's 1 p.m. game against Saint Mary's.
