Jan. 25, 2012 – Coming off its first victory of the season over Southern Utah University, the BYU women’s gymnastics team (1-1) is eager to compete in this season’s Deseret First Duel against the No. 3 ranked University of Utah (1-1). The meet will take place Friday at 7 p.m. at the Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City.

“The second meet we did much better,” head coach Brad Cattermole said. “We’ll keep working on improving. I was pleased with our performance as a team, particularly with the performance of Megan Bain and Krysten Koval.”

Bain placed in the top-two in each event she competed in. Koval set a personal-best on the beam with a score of 9.950. The team is hoping to carry that momentum into the Utah meet.

“The fun thing about going to Utah is there is always a great crowd,” Cattermole said. “It’s a very well run meet. If you can’t enjoy that, you aught to be doing something else. Utah is a fun team to compete against and we’re looking forward to competing. ”

Live video and stats will be available at utahutes.com. The meet will also be broadcast the following Sunday (Jan. 29th) at 11 a.m. on ABC-4.
