PROVO -- The BYU Women’s Gymnastics team will give fans a sneak peek of their 2011 season on Dec. 9th. The team, which will not officially kick off their season until Jan. 8th against Denver, will hold an intrasquad meet on BYU’s reading day. The meet will begin at approximately 1:30 p.m. in the team's practice gym located at 149 Smith Fieldhouse. The meet will be judged and is open to the public.

“Fans should see a stronger team this year,” BYU head coach Brad Cattermole said. “Last year was the first year in a while that we were able to compete some fairly talented freshmen and this year those underclassman are more experienced. Add those upperclassman to our freshmen and I think we should have an all-around stronger team.”

BYU returns 9 letterwinners who all competed last season. Additionally, Cougar fans who come to the intrasquad meet will get their first look at four talented to freshmen who will look to make an immediate impact for BYU.

“Our hope this season is to compete in NCAA regionals and ultimately we would like to have a berth in Nationals,” Cattermole said. “Anything can happen in gymnastics but ultimately you want to be in the fight.”
