PROVO -- Coming off a season-best 193.525 in its home opener, the BYU women's gymnastics team will be on the road this week to take on Southern Utah University Friday in Cedar City.

"They're a very good team," BYU coach Brad Cattermole said of SUU. "If you take your eye off them, they'll beat you. We're going to need to perform well or they'll beat us. Even if we do perform well, they can beat us."

In their 193.525 -- 192.550 victory over Utah State last week, the Cougars got off to a good start on vault, recording a season-best 48.750. They struggled however on bars before picking it up to finish strong on beam and floor.

Six Cougar gymnasts scored season highs on the night while Kylee Draper recorded two career highs on bars (9.825) and beam (9.775). BYU took the top spot in every event with Dayna Smart recording two season highs to take first on vault (9.825) and beam (9.875). Kandis Kelly also recorded a season-high 9.875 to tie with Smart for first on beam. Draper won bars and Kacie Capra recorded a season-high 9.825 to take floor.

Southern Utah is entering its fifth meet of the season. In their last time out, the Thunderbirds finished second in a three-team meet behind host Boise State at 193.100 while recording a season-best 48.425 on vault. SUU's Ashley Sharpe took the top spot on bars while Sheena Shaw was third in the all-around at 38.800.

Last season the Cougars and Thunderbirds split their two contests with each team winning at home. SUU prevailed in the last meeting.

Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Centrum Arena.
