No. 22 BYU Gymnasts to Host No. 10 Oregon

PROVO -- The No. 22 BYU gymnastics team continues its home meet series Saturday against Oregon State. The Cougars face the Beavers in the Smith Fieldhouse at 1 pm.

"We are as ready as we can be," BYU head coach Brad Cattermole said. "With Brooke [Haskett] and Kari [Lords] out with injuries, we've had to make some adjustments."

Haskett injured her knee in practice last Thursday and will be out for the rest of the season, and Lords injured her ankle on her floor warm-up at the meet last Friday. Lords will return to competition in a few weeks.

The Cougars took second place last weekend in a quad-meet with Southern Utah, Central Michigan and Utah State with a 195.425.

Junior Lords received a 10.0 on her beam routine--the first ten on the beam in BYU history. Brogan Jacobsen followed suit and received a perfect 10.0 with her floor routine--another first for BYU.

Oregon State claimed first place on all four events plus the all-around last week against Denver and Seattle Pacific. The team scored a season-high 197.050 to win.

With the wins, the Beavers finished a perfect 6-0 this year.

When the Cougars and Beavers faced each other last year, BYU defeated the Beavers 194.400-192.950. A Cougar took first place on each event and also took the all-around.

"We did win last year and did fairly well considering how early in the season it was," Cattermole said. "But we are going to have to do exceptionally well to win this year."

Saturday's meet is Hogi Yogi day for gymnastics fans. Vouchers for the game are available at local Hogi Yogi/Terriyaki Stix locations. Hogi Yogi mugs will also be given out to the first 300 fans at the Fieldhouse.
