Cougars Lose At No. 5 Stanford
Stanford, Calif.- The No.18 ranked BYU women's gymnastics team recorded only their second loss of the season on Saturday night, losing to the No. 5 ranked Stanford Cardinal, 196.875-195.225 in Stanford's last home meet of the year.
The Cougars, now 8-2 on the season, scored a season-high 49.000 on the beam, the event the Cougars have been averaging the lowest on this season. On BYU's best event, the floor, they scored their second lowest score of the season with a 48.500.
Kelly Parkinson finished second in the all-around competition with a 39.500, while Stanford's Lindsay Wing won every event and scored a 39.750 to win the all-around, a personal career-high, and second-best in Stanford history.
BYU will face Stanford again next week when the Cardinal travel to Provo to take on the Cougars Saturday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. in the Smith Fieldhouse.
