11 BYU Gymnasts Earn Academic All-MRGC Honors

LOGAN, Utah – Eleven members of the BYU gymnastics team were named to the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Academic All-MRGC Team.

To be eligible for the award, the student-athletes were required to have a 3.2 GPA or higher in the 2021-22 academic year and have appeared on the squad list during the 2022 season.

BYU's 11 Academic All-MRGC honorees helped the Cougars finish the 2022 winter semester with a combined 3.26 GPA as a team. In total, the MRGC recognized 71 student-athletes, led by Southern Utah with 29, followed by Boise State with 18. Utah State also recognized 13 student-athletes.

In 2022, the Cougars finished as the No. 24 team in the nation as they reached new heights with a 196.640 average and earned their highest regional score with a 196.625. The Cougars also finished their 2022 season at the top of the MRGC standings with a 12-7-1 overall record.
