STANFORD, Calif. - No.12 BYU finished tied for second with a score of 196.525 in a quad meet against No. 19 Stanford University, Sacramento State and Boise State on Monday.

MEET RESULTS

Boise State finished the night in first place with 197.000, followed by BYU and host Stanford tying for second with team scores of 196.525. Sacramento State finished with a final score of 193.325.

"We had a rough start on bars with a scary fall from Lindsey Hunter," said head coach Guard Young. "I am super proud of the girls who went after her for finishing that lineup strong and moving forward. We had a few small falls on beam, but all good teams fall on beam and the girls performed well. We had Sophie Dudley come in for floor last minute and she started off the rotation with a great score and I could not be more proud of her. Today was definitely a day of learned experiences for these girls."

BYU started the meet on the uneven bars in the first rotation. Allix Mason scored a 9.850, which marks her second-highest score of the season on the apparatus. Junior bars specialist Anyssa Alvarado secured a 9.900 as the highest score for the Cougars on the bars. BYU ended the first rotation in third place with a 49.150 behind the Stanford Cardinals (49.200) and Boise State Broncos (49.375).

The Cougars crossed the court to compete on the balance beam in rotation two. BYU had a slow start on the event, but gained momentum as the back end of the lineup all scored above a 9.900. Sophia McClelland tied her career-high score of 9.925 and Elease Rollins finished out the rotation with a new career high of 9.975. BYU finished the second rotation in second place with a 97.925 behind Boise State’s 98.350.

BYU brought the energy with its floor routines in the third rotation. Sydney Benson notched a career-high score of 9.850 to start strong for the Cougars. Sadie Miner-Van Tassell received a 9.900 and floor specialist Brittney Vitkauskas scored a 9.950 to close out the rotation. With several high scores on the floor, BYU ended with a team total of 147.375 to stay in second place behind the Broncos (147.575).

Haley Pitou started the Cougars off with a solid score of 9.800 on vault in the final rotation. Senior Lexi Griffith also notched a 9.800 and Benson scored a 9.850. Miner-Van Tassell rounded out the rotation with a new career-high score of 9.925 on the apparatus. Despite their great performance on vault, the Cougars finished the meet in a second-place tie with a final score of 196.575 as the Broncos maintained their advantage to earn the victory.

Miner-Van Tassell shared the top spot on the podium for vault with BSU’s Alyssa Vulaj as each gymnast notched a 9.925. Rollins also received the shared top score of the night on beam with Stanford’s Kyla Bryant with individual scores of 9.975. Vitkauskas took home the highest score of the night on floor with a 9.950 for the Cougars.
