No. 18 BYU prepares for another home meet against Boise State

PROVO, Utah – No. 18 BYU invites Boise State to compete in the Smith Fieldhouse on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 12 p.m. MST. 

Most recently, the two teams faced off February 19, 2021 in the Smith Fieldhouse for a tri-meet with Air Force Academy. BYU came out on top with a final score of 196.975, followed by Boise State (196.900) and Air Force (192.650).

Meet Information

THE COUGARS. BYU jumped three spots in the national rankings after a win over the Utah State Aggies in its home opener. Currently ranked No. 18, BYU reached its season-high score of 196.775 in its meet on Friday, Jan. 28 to edge out the Aggies 196.450. Senior Sadie Miner-Van Tassell competed for the All-Around (39.425) and received the MRGC Gymnast of the Week honor for the third week in a row. Anyssa Alvarado finished first on the uneven bars with a 9.925 for the second week in a row and Elease Rollins took home the beam title with a 9.925 to earn the MRGC Beam Specialist of the Week honor. 

THE BRONCOS. Currently ranked No. 35, Boise State upset No. 19 Southern Utah in a 194.850-194.700 season-opening win. After missing the first two meets of its 2022 season, the Broncos started out with a great performance from fifth-year senior Emily Muhlenhaupt who notched a 9.950 on bars and received the MRGC Bars Specialist of the Week honor. 

Consistent with current BYU requirements, all in attendance will need to provide proof of vaccination or proof of a negative COVID test upon entry. Masks will also be required, regardless of vaccination status. Find more details at byu.edu/coronavirus
