PROVO, Utah – BYU gymnastics released its 2017 schedule, including five home meets and a mixture of Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference and nonconference meets throughout the season.

The nonconference schedule is highlighted by home meets against two Pac-12 opponents in addition to one home and two away meets against three members of the Big Ten Conference. The Cougars will also compete in Texas, the home state of a few BYU gymnasts.

“I’m really excited that we’re having more home meets,” BYU head coach Guard Young said. “The Arizona and Iowa teams that are coming in are going to be fun and different. We don’t see them every single season.”

The annual Blue and White Intrasquad meet will be held Friday, Dec. 9, before the season kicks off. The Cougars open their season on the road Saturday, Jan. 7, in a quad-meet against Penn State, Bowling Green State and Temple. BYU returns home the following week to host in-state rival University of Utah Friday, Jan. 13, at the Marriott Center.

“We’re embracing hosting Utah early in the season,” Young said. “What a cool way to start things by bringing in such a high-profile team.”

The Cougars host Utah State the following week (Jan. 20) before heading to the Gem State Invitational in Boise (Jan. 27).

February competition begins with three away meets, including a meet against Utah State in Logan (Feb. 3). BYU then travels to Texas Woman’s University (Feb. 11) and Southern Utah (Feb. 17). The Cougars return to Provo at the end the month to host Iowa on Feb. 24.

BYU competes against Minnesota in Minneapolis (March 4) before coming home to face Arizona (March 10) and then Southern Utah (March 13) in the final regular season meet. The MRCG championships will be held March 18 at Utah State.
