Cougars hit the road to take on Denver

PROVO, Utah – BYU gymnastics hits the road for its next two meets starting with a tri-meet with the No. 17 Denver Pioneers and University of Iowa on Saturday at 6 p.m. MST.

“We’re excited to compete against Denver and Iowa,” BYU gymnastics coach Brad Cattermole said. “They're both great teams. We’re just going to keep looking to improve our own score and put together a solid four events.”

The Cougars placed in third two weeks ago in a tri-meet with Denver and Boise State in the Smith Fieldhouse. Freshman Jill Van Mierlo finished in first in the all-around to help BYU finish with a 195.450, but fell short to Denver’s second-place score of 196.150.

Seven career or season highs were recorded by the Cougars last week including Makenzie Johnson’s career-high 9.900 on the vault.

BYU dropped its last meet against Southern Utah with a 194.975, while the Pioneers placed first in its last meet with a 195.425. Iowa also fell short with a total score of 196.370 last week. 

The meet will take place at the Hamilton Gymnasium in Denver. Live stats can be found on the link, here
