Gymnasts host Utah State for second home meet of 2014
PROVO, Utah – Coming off its best performance of the season, the BYU gymnastics team will host in-state opponent Utah State Friday at 7 p.m. MST at the Smith Fieldhouse.
The Cougars notched their best score in over seven years with a 196.425 against Denver last week at home. The last time BYU scored over a 196 was a 196.300 in 2008 against Utah State. Several gymnasts, including Raquel Willman Hatch, Makenzie Johnson, Eliane Kulczyk, Ashley Follett, Summer Raymond and KayCee Gassaway notched personal bests in the meet.
BYU faced Utah State on Jan. 24 in a 193.200-192.900 loss in Logan. It marked the lowest score by the Cougars so far this season. BYU’s best event came on the vault with a 48.775 followed by a 48.550 on the balance beam.
