Yuan Finishes 41st at Regionals
ERIE, Colo. –After being tied for 71st after one round at the NCAA regionals, BYU’s Maggie Yuan moved up 30 spots over the next two days, finishing tied for 41st.
The tournament was Yuan’s last as a Cougar and caps off a terrific final season. The BYU senior finished in the top 20 in eight of her 10 tournaments this season.
"It was a great effort," BYU coach Carrie Roberts said. "She battled and I'm very proud of her."
In the final round of competition, Maggie matched her first-round score of 5-over. The front nine was great as Yuan had two birdies and two bogies, but the back nine proved to be difficult.
With three holes to go Yuan was even on the day, but with two bogies and a double-bogey, Yuan finished the tournament with an 8-over 224. Yet it still proved to be her best finish at the NCAA regionals.
Last year, while participating with the entire Cougar team at regionals, Yuan finished tied for 63rd while shooting 18-over. She improved by 10 strokes in her final campaign.
"Great things are ahead for Maggie," Roberts said.
This tournament concludes the season for BYU.
