Cougars in 10th After Day One of Bruin Wave Invitational
TARZANA, Calif –The BYU women’s golf team shot two consistent rounds of 320 and 318, putting them in tenth place after the first day of competition at the Bruin Wave Invitational on Monday.
“It’s a really tough golf course,” BYU coach Carrie Roberts said. “It’s tough walking 36 holes, that really beats you up.”
Senior Maggie Yuan led the way for the Cougars, shooting rounds of 6-over and 4-over to place 19th going into the final round of competition.
Yuan had birdies on holes No. 9, No.15 and No. 17 to help her crack into the top-20. Following Yuan was Annika Afoa, who is currently tied for 42nd.
“Both Annika and Maggie are hitting the ball really well,” Roberts said. “We’ll come out tomorrow more focused, realizing that we only have 18 holes left to play.”
The Cougars will conclude the final round of play tomorrow.
