Cougars Tied for Seventh at West Regional

AUBURN, Wash. -- Kelsey Vines shot a 2-over 74 and led the BYU women's golf team into a tie for seventh place after the first round of the NCAA West Regional Thursday in Auburn, Washington.

The Cougars shot a 15-over 303 on the day one at the Washington National Golf Course, putting them four strokes out of fourth place and 15 strokes behind leader USC.

Vines, a sophomore, stands tied for 17th after recording three birdies on day one.

Annika Afoa and Jade Bollinger are tied for 26th and 41st respectively after shooting first rounds of 75 (+3) and 76 (+4).

Senior Emily Copier and junior Maggie Yuan moved into ties for 66th and 94th respectively. Copier carded a first-round 78 (+6) while Yuan posted a 9-over 81.
