ST. GEORGE, Utah -- Kelsey Vines sits in third place and the BYU women's golf team sits in 10th after the first two rounds of the BYU Entrada Classic concluded Monday at Entrada at Snow Canyon in St. George, Utah.

"We struggled as a team today and we need to do better tomorrow," said BYU head coach Carrie Roberts. "The weather was tough for us, but if we can come back tomorrow, we should be able to finish well."

The Cougars are 22 strokes behind leader Wisconsin after posting a first day total of 637 (+61). Adding to inclimate weather and tough greens, BYU is without it's No. 2 golfer, Maggie Yuan, who is not competing after spraining her ankle last week.

Vines, a St. George native, is coming off of her first collegiate individual title at the UNLV Spring Rebel Classic. She shot rounds of 76 and 74 on day one to finish six over par, just two strokes behind overall leader Demi Mak of New Mexico State.

"Kelsey is playing great right now," Roberts said. "Her game is impressive and she is fun to watch."

Freshman Annika Afoa joins Vines in the top-15 after day one after improving on a first-round 80 to shoot a 2-over 74 in round two and move into a tie for 12th place.

Amanda Keith, a native of Burbank, Calif., finished day one with a 24-over 168 and is currently tied for 54th place.

Seniors Jade Bollinger and Emily Copier shot rounds of 84 and 86 respectively in round two. Bollinger sits tied for 61st, while Copier is in 70th place going into the final day of competition.

Mercedes Attig, a junior from Irvine, Calif., posted a first-day total of 188 to move into 79th place overall. She is competing as an individual in her first tournament of the spring.

The Cougars look to move up the leaderboard during the final round tomorrow, with tee times beginning at 8:30 am. Follow third-round action live by clicking HERE or by visiting www.golfstat.com.
