Cougars Top Leaderboard After Day One

LAS -- Three Cougars shot below par Monday, including an 6-under 66 by Kelsey Vines to lead the BYU women's golf team to the top of the leaderboard after day one of the UNLV Spring Rebel Invitational.

The Cougars (-8) claimed the first day lead by two strokes over No. 24 Oklahoma (-6) and lead No. 25 Pepperdine (-3) by five strokes.

Vines carded seven birdies on the par-72 Boulder Creek Golf Course, giving her a low-round of 66 and putting her in the lead by one stroke.

Joining Vines in the top-10 are senior Emily Copier, who carded a first-round 70, and sophomore Amanda Keith, who birdied five holes to post a 1-under 71 and move into a tie for seventh place.

Senior Jade Bollinger and junior Maggie Yuan stand tied for 21st and 39th respectively after rounds of 73 and 76. Freshman Annika Afoa, who is competing as an individual, carded a first-round 82 and sits in a tie for 74th.
