SANTA CLARITA -- The BYU women's golf team is looking for a strong finish after completing the second round of the Bruin Wave Invitational Tuesday in seventh place.

"It was a very positive day," said BYU head coach Carrie Roberts. "This is one of the toughest fields we face all year and we had girls step up and post some good scores."

Sophomore Kelsey Vines continued to lead the Cougars, shooting a 4-over 76 in round two, putting her in a tie for 11th place, just seven strokes off of the lead.

Senior Jade Bollinger sits in a tie for 29th place after a second-round 80 on the challenging Valley Course at the Robinson Ranch Resort.

"The course is tough," Roberts said. "It is very tight and you have to work hard to keep the ball in play. We have done a pretty good job of that so far."

After finishing day one tied for 45th, junior Maggie Yuan shot a 4-over 76 in round two and moved up 15 spots into a tie for 34th.

Senior Emily Copier and Sophomore Amanda Keith shot rounds of 79 and 76 respectively on the second day. Copier is tied for 58th and Keith is tied for 70th along with teammate Annika Afoa, who is competing as an individual.

Final-round action begins Wednesday at 8:30 am PT. Follow the action live by clicking HERE or by visiting www.golfstat.com.
