Cougars Tied For Fifth After First Round
SANTA CLARITA -- Kelsey Vines led the BYU women's golf team with an even-par 72 in round one of the Bruin Wave Invitational Saturday, boosting the Cougars into a tie for fifth place.
Vines, a sophomore, carded four birdies on the par-72 Valley Course of the Robinson Ranch Resort, moving her into a tie for eighth place going into the second day of competition.
Senior Jade Bollinger sits one stroke behind Vines after shooting a first-round 73 and sits tied for 12th place overall.
Junior Maggie Yuan and Senior Emily Copier shot rounds of 78 and 80 respectively to move into ties for the 45th and 57th spots overall. Amanda Keith is currently tied for 80th after a first-round 86.
Sophomore Annika Afoa, who is competing as an individual, posted a 12-over 84 on day one and sits in a tie for 78th place going into day two.
