TUCSON -- The BYU women’s golf team recorded its best 54-hole total of the season to place eighth at the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz., on Saturday.

The Cougars finish at the event with a season-best three-round total of 909 after a final-round 313 at Mountain View Golf Course. Colorado State and Texas Tech finished tied atop the leaderboard at 26-over-par 890 before the Rams were awarded the title in a scorecard playoff. The scorecard comparisons first considered the fifth-player totals for both teams before the Rams claimed the title based on comparing the fourth-player scores.

UNLV placed third at 894, followed by Baylor (895), Indiana (896), Iowa State (898), San Jose State (908) and BYU (909). Michigan and Gonzaga rounded out the top 10, finishing tied at 914.

All five Cougars shot scores between 77 and 79 on the 6,227-yard layout on Saturday. Two-time AGCA All-American Scholar Athlete Jade Bollinger led BYU with a 5-over-par 77 Saturday, while Amanda Keith, a freshman from Burbank, Calif., followed with a 78. First-round leader Kelsey Vines, a freshman from St. George, Utah, posted a 79 Saturday along with teammates Maggie Yuan of Sichuan, China, and Shayla Forsey of Morristown, Tenn.

Overall, Vines tied for 18th with a 70-76-79—225 total, while Yuan (73-75-79) and Bollinger (76-74-77) tied for 28th two strokes back at 227. Missouri’s Julia Potter and Texas Tech’s Gabriella Dominguez tied for first at 3-over-par 219 and were declared co-champions after a scorecard comparison could not break the tie.

"Overall it was our best three-day tournament of the year," BYU coach Robbie Bosco said. "We feel good about that."

The Cougars will now prepare for the Mountain West Conference Championship being played at Black Horse Golf Club in Seaside, Calif., from April 15-17.
