SAMMAMISH -- Playing among a competitive field featuring six nationally ranked teams, the BYU women’s golf team completed the second round of the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational in 11th place after recording a day-two score of 330 (+42).

“We fought right to the end,” said BYU head coach Sue Nyhus. “It was a tough scoring day, but we’ll learn from this round and be better. We’re just trying to be patient and positive. This golf course had a lot of tricks up its sleeve, but we get a little better every time we play.”

The Cougars’ two-day total score of 650 is 74 strokes over par, just two shots back of Washington State. No. 13 Cal leads the tournament at 23-over-par.

Sophomore team co-captain Maggie Yuan led BYU in the second round, posting the only Cougar score under 80. Yuan went 7-over-par (79) to better her round-one score by two strokes. In the second round, she birdied the par-5 18th hole for the second-straight day while also posting birdies on the par-5 2nd hole and the par-4 4th hole. Yuan is currently tied for 30th at +16 heading into the final round.

Junior Jade Bollinger posted an 82 on the day to move into a tie for 39th with Cougar teammate Kelsey Vines, who led BYU in round one. Bollinger went +10 on the day after going +8 on Monday. Vines adder 12 strokes to her round-one total with a second-round score of 84. Her play featured birdies on the 2nd hole and the par-3 13th hole.

After going 9-over-par on Monday, freshman Amanda Keith struggled on Tuesday, going +13. Her two-day total of 166 (+22) put her in 56th place at the end of the day. Junior Emily Copier, a transfer to the Cougars this season, went +14 on day two to post a 36-round total of 171, 27-over-par. Junior Sara Romero, competing independently, also went +14 on day two and is tied for 64th at +30 for the event.

The final round will be played on Wednesday.
