SIMPSONVILLE -- The BYU women’s golf team completed two rounds of action at the Napa River Grill Cardinal Cup Monday, placing sixth after 36 holes with three Cougars in the top 20 individually.

BYU went +29 in the first two rounds of play Monday and improved its second-round score by five strokes heading into Tuesday’s final 18 holes.

Sophomore Maggie Yuan led the way for BYU on the day with a two-round total of 148, 4-over-par, to tie for 12th. The team co-captain was +2 in both rounds and played consistently throughout the day. She posted one birdie in her first round and three in the second 18 holes.

Just one week after recording the Cougar low score in her first collegiate event, freshman Kelsey Vines was back at it, just one stroke behind Yuan at 5-over-par. She led the Cougars in the second round at even par after going 1-under on the front nine. With five birdies on the day, Vines finished tied for 15th.

Junior Jade Bollinger, a two-time NGCA All-America Scholar, also competed well after struggling in the Cougars’ first tournament of the year. Bollinger finished the day tied for 18th to round out the BYU golfers in the top 20 as she went 6-over-par. Her first round even par performance paced the Cougars as she recorded three birdies and went 1-under on the back nine.

Junior transfer Emily Copier (+16) and senior Shayla Forsey (+18) finished the day tied for 56th and 66th respectively.

The Cougars will tee off Tuesday morning at 8:15 a.m. ET
