Cougars Perform Well at State Am

LEHI -- Several current and former Cougars had a strong showing at the 2009 Utah Women’s State Amateur championship at Thanksgiving Point.

Incoming freshman Annika Afoa placed third overall at 8-over-par 224 behind Farmington native Natalie Stone (-2) and 14-year-old South Jordan local Sirene Blair (+3).

Former Cougar and State Am champion Lachell Poffenberger came in fourth at 11-over-par 227. Sophomore Amanda Keith shot a 16-over effort while teammate Jenteal Jackson competed well in the first flight pairing at 20-over.

BYU head coach Sue Nyhus also competed in the tournament, shooting 18-over-par.
