ALBUQUERQUE -- The No. 30 BYU women's golf team achieved a strong second-place finish at the Mountain West Conference Championships. Junior Natalia Jimenez led all Cougars and finished tied for second place at 2-over-par.

"I'm really proud of Natalia for finishing in second," BYU head coach Sue Nyhus said.

BYU seniors Juli Erekson and Ashley Childers also had strong performances in the final round of the tournament. Erekson shot a 2-over-par 75, including three birdies on the front nine. Childers followed suit, with three birdies on the back nine and a final round score of 3-over-par 76.

"I'm excited that our team elevates their confidence and refines their skills in every tournament we play in," Nyhus said.

The Mountain West Conference Championship was a 54-hole tournament featuring seven teams, including No. 22 New Mexico, No. 47 UNLV and No. 27 TCU. New Mexico won the tournament at 12-over-par. UNLV followed BYU in third place and TCU finished in fourth.

"We're still improving and look forward to regionals in a few weeks," Nyhus said.
