Newren Leads Cougars at Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational
SEATTLE -- Current Mountain West Conference leader Rachel Newren led the No. 27 BYU Cougars to a ninth place finish at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational.
Newren, a senior from Salt Lake City, placed ninth overall at the tournament held at the Sahalee Country Club finishing with an eight-over-par.
This is Newren's 21st- top 20 finish.
While Newren finished strong, the team did not place as high as they had hoped.
"We had a hard time finishing off the round today," said head coach Sue Nyhus. "All and all we played ok but we can always play better. We are looking forward to the next tournament in San Diego because we can do really well."
The next tournament for BYU will be the Lady Aztec Invitational Oct. 16 -17 hosted by San Diego State University.
