BYU Women's Golf Team in Fourth Place at BYU Invitational

SPRINGVILLE -- BYU sophomore Carrie Summerhays is in third place after 36 holes in the annual BYU Invitational.

Summerhays finished the first round at Hobble Creek Golf Course with a 77 and then carded 2-over-par 74 on her final 18 holes. Teammate Teal Thron tied for fourth with scores of 72-81-153.

As a team, BYU shot 628 to place fourth overall among the 16 teams participating in the event. UTEP holds a 21-shot lead at 605. Hawaii and California are tied for second at 626.

Weber State is in seventh place at 645. Other Mountain West Conference teams participating in the Invitational include sixth-place San Diego State (634), and University of Wyoming (653), who concluded the first day of tournament play in ninth place.

Other BYU golfers were Adrianne Gibbey at 161, and Jessica Gardner and Nicole Parry, who both posted a 163.

The 18 holes of the BYU Invitational will be played Tuesday beginning at 7:30 a.m.
