BYU Women's Golf in 15th after Second Round at Dick McGuire Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE -- Despite tough competition, BYU Women Golfers advanced to 15th place (317-318--635) after another two rounds in the Dick McGuire Invitational at the UNM Championship Golf Course Friday.

Sophomore Carrie Summerhays jumped from 60th to a four-way tie for 31st place after shooting a 75 Friday. She leads the Cougars with a combined score of 154. Sophomore teammate Adrianne Gibby posted a 77 for a 155 total and is currently tied with two other golfers for 35th place. Junior Summer Fenstermaker and sophomore Jessica Gardner carded 83s for the Cougars, while Teal Thron moved up two spots to 94th place with Friday's score of 86.

Arizona is on top of the 18-team field participating in the tournament with a two-day score of 294-292--586. Individually, the Wildcats' Jenna Daniels shot a 73 and is in a three-way tie for first place. Tournament Host New Mexico is in sixth (305-302--607), and fellow Mountain West Conference school, Colorado State, is three strokes ahead of BYU (317-315--632) in 14th place.

The final round of tournament play will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday.
