Five Cougars move on to match play in the Utah Women’s State Amateur Tournament

PARK CITY, Utah – BYU women's golfers Adeline Anderson, Lila Galeai, Berlin Long, Sunbin Seo and Whitney Banz qualified for match play at the Utah Women’s State Amateur Championship on Tuesday at Jeremy Ranch Golf and Country Club.

Anderson took second place in the 18-hole stroke-play qualifying after carding a 1-under-par 71. Banz, who has recently transferred to BYU after serving a mission in Thailand, shot 3-over to tie for eighth. Galeai, the 2021 Utah Women's State Amateur champion, turned in a four-over-par 76, to sit in a tie for 12th. Both Seo and Long tied for 15th after shooting five-over-par to make the match play cut.

2023 BYU graduate and former squad member, Kerstin Ngakuru, tied for third in stroke play at even par and will also be moving on to match play. 

Match play will begin with the round of 32 on Wednesday morning at Jeremy Ranch Golf and Country Club, with the round of 16 being held in the afternoon.
