SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Allysha Mae Mateo posted a 2 over par second round at the NCAA San Antonio Regional to sit in a tie for seventh entering the final round on Wednesday at 1 over par.

“Allysha Mae hit the ball really well today but just couldn’t get any putts to drop,” said BYU head coach Carrie Roberts. “She had some nice up-and-ins for par and really gave herself some good opportunities.

Mateo (71-74—145) carded two birdies and four bogeys on day two en route to a 2-over 74 to go along with her 1 under par opening round. At 1 over for the tournament, Mateo sits in a tie for seventh, seven shots off the lead held by Camryn Carreon of UTSA at 6 under par. Carreon carded the round of the tournament on day two with a 5-under 67 to take a four-shot lead into Wednesday's final round.

“Allysha is playing really good golf right now,” said Roberts. “In an NCAA Regional, when the pressure starts to mount, you never know what posting a good number can do to the leaders. If Allysha can get a few more puts to drop tomorrow, she could definitely make it interesting down the stretch.”
