BYU finishes 6th at Juli Inkster Meadow Club Collegiate
FAIRFAX, Calif — BYU women’s golf finished sixth at the Juli Inkster Meadow Club Collegiate after posting a 22-over total on Tuesday.
The Cougars (302-287-297—886) finished sixth behind five ranked teams as No. 1 Stanford (283-288-287—858) took home the tournament title at 6-under par. No. 11 USC (287-278-298—863) finished runner-up after shooting 1-under-par with No. 5 San Jose State (293-284-290—867) shooting 3-over to take third.
No. 23 Pepperdine (294-289-295—878) posted a 14-over-par total to finish fourth with No. 40 Cal (299-295-290—884) shooting 2-over to round out the top-5.
Allysha Mae Mateo was the low finisher for BYU for the fourth-straight event after shooting 76-69-73—218. After a slow start, Mateo shot 2-under-par over her final 36 holes to tie for 11th at 2-over-par. The senior from Hawai’i closed with eight birdies in two rounds to vault 31 spots up the leaderboard.
Kerstin Ngakuru earned her second-straight top-25 finish at the Meadow Club as she fired rounds of 73-73-75—221. Ngakuru finished in a tie for 17th after making three birdies on the final day.
Annick Haczkiewicz was tied for 27th after 54 holes where she shot 75-73-75—223 for 7-over-par. The senior’s 27th-place finish is her best showing of the 2022-23 season.
Alexa Udom shot 82-72-74—228 for a 12-over total while Sunbin Seo rounded out the scoring for the Cougars with rounds of 78-78-75—231.
BYU will be back in action at the Avenue Spring Break Classic, March 27-28 at The Royal Ka'anapali Course in Lahaina, Hawai'i.
